Secondary School & VCE Incursions

WildlifeXposure programs implement key learning topics and are structured to deliver highly engaging, interactive educational presentations that complement the Victorian science curriculum.

Our programs are designed through close consultation with qualified and experienced senior biology teachers to ensure they align with specific units of work.

Students will examine and discover wildlife up close, creating a connection and appreciation of conservation while growing their understanding of nature and biological science.

Levels 7 and 8 programs

At this level all our programs can be adapted and are ideally suited to focus on a range of relevant topics.

  • Body designs and adaptations
  • Classify creatures in to major taxonomic groups using a hierarchical systems, for example, kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus, species
  • A biotic and biotic factors influencing adaptations
  • Energy flows, food chains and food webs
  • Primary, secondary and tertiary consumers and the roles they play within ecosystems and importance of biodiversity
  • Homeostasis & body systems

Our programs can also challenge students to consider our own affects on the environment, presented with examples of external human impacts both direct and indirect and the effects it has on specific species and their environments.

Levels 9 – 10 programs that can be tailored to suite

At this level all our programs can be adapted and are ideally suited to focus on a range of relevant topics.

  • Classification & taxonomic groups
  • Symbiosis within working established ecosystems
  • Homeostasis & body systems
  • Reproductive strategies
  • DNA and the importance of genetic diversity
  • Evolution morphology & specific functional adaptations

Our programs also challenge students to consider our own affects on the environment, presented with examples of external human impacts both direct and indirect and the effects it has on specific species distributions and populations and their connected environments.

VCE

We are proud to offer specialised presentations that are ideally designed to complement VCE units of study.

*Function systems
*Survival through adaptation and regulation
*Organism diversity
*Relationships between organisms

How we deliver our quality live wildlife incursions safely and ethically.

Our animals are bred in captivity, hand-reared and then carefully selected to ensure they can be safely transported for a wildlife experience. Students will be gently encouraged and instructed how to handle the animals with the assistance of our experienced wildlife demonstrators. Our aim is to create a positive and safe experience for both the students and the animals.

WildlifeXposure’s interactive wildlife incursions are delivered by experienced, qualified wildlife handlers and educators. Our programs guarantee all students will be included and will have the opportunity to hold, touch, learn and experience wildlife first hand.

We pride ourselves on our ethical treatment of our animals and the work they do as ambassadors for their wild counterparts is extremely important. The wellbeing of our animals is paramount, and we maintain a high level of care and consideration of our animals across all of our presentations.

Our requirements

To ensure comprehensive all-inclusive quality programs we have a maximum limit of 30 students per hour session.

We are very flexible and will work with you to ensure you get the educational experience you desire.

Ideally we require:

  • A clear space for students to sit in a single semi-circle format
  • An area roughly 3m x1m for our animals and our poster boards

At previous incursions we have delivered our sessions in classrooms, science labs (cleared of tables), school halls / multi-purpose rooms, libraries, auditoriums, etc.

Ideally when running multiple sessions, setting up in the one area on-site works best with the students coming to us for each session.

Bookings & Payment

Payment is required on the date of the incursion and can be made over the telephone or online via credit card or direct debit transfer.

Cancellations must be made within 7 days prior to the booked date of the incursion sent to [email protected], or full payment is required.
