This episode we finishing of a new possum nest box for our squirrel gliders and move some of them into a new enclosure while learning about how important hollows in old dead trees and how building nest boxes for wildlife can help create vital new habitats.
This is just a short silly bit of fun we thought we would share with you for a laugh and a bit of a teaser for some up and coming episodes.
While we have all been practicing social distancing, underwater it’s a totally different world. It’s that time of the year when the water temperature drops and the spider crabs invade the shallow waters of Port Phillip Bay in one of the worlds largest animal migrations. I have been lucky to experience this marvel of nature and capture it to share with you all. Truly one of natures most impressive underwater spectacles.
Australia is known as the land of the lizards due to us having so many different species. Skinks make up the most diverse family of lizards in the world. For most people the humble little garden skink is one of the fist lizards we encounter in our backyards growing up as kids, and for me this was definitely the case. It’s where my fascination for reptiles began as a child catching skinks in my garden and then learning about larger skinks like the iconic Australian blue tongs and keeping them as some of my first pets.
Snakes are largely misunderstood reptiles. Pythons are non-venomous constricting snakes and some species are among the largest snakes on earth. Pythons come in a variety of colours paterns and sizes. Australia is home to more species than any continent on earth and they are found all across the mainland. In this episode we introduce you to just a few Australian species we keep and display at WildlifeXposure HQ and share with you some fun facts about their biology, habitats and behaviours. We hope after watching this you will understand python snakes more and begin to love snakes as much as we do.
