Primary School Incursions

Exploring and learning about living things, nature and the environment in the classroom with a WildlifeXposure incursion transforms an everyday class lesson into a truly unique and real life memorable hands on student learning experience.

WildlifeXposure programs implement key learning topics and are structured to deliver fun, interactive, highly educational presentations that complement and align with the Victorian science curriculum.

Students will examine and discover wildlife up close, creating a connection while growing their appreciation and understanding of nature, biological science and living things.

Foundation and Levels 1-2 programs

At this level these programs introduce students to the basic needs of living creatures and how their varied external features help them live in different places and what they need to grow and flourish. Also how they change throughout their lifespan and how they form part of the working healthy environments we share.

Levels 3-4 programs

At this level these programs are adapted and ideally suited to teach students to further investigate and observe how animals are grouped and named due to their features, and how they have adapted to survive in different habitats. Students will learn how to distinguish creatures from non-living entities and come to understand the requirements of supporting environments. Students will learn more about life cycles, habitats, food chains and food webs and the important role animals play within ecosystems.

Level 5-6 programs

At this level all our programs are adapted and ideally suited to teach and further investigate in greater detail animal body designs and adaptations. This is both behavioural and physical and we explore how this is used to classify creatures in to major groups, such as mammals, reptiles, nocturnal, diurnal etc. We discuss abiotic and biotic factors influencing adaptations and elaborate on how these unique body designs and behaviours allow animals to succeed within particular unique ecological aspects of various Australian environments and their related extreme conditions.

How we deliver our quality live wildlife incursions safely and ethically.

Our animals are bred in captivity, hand-reared and then carefully selected to ensure they can be safely transported for a wildlife experience. Students will be gently encouraged and instructed how to handle the animals with the assistance of our experienced wildlife demonstrators. Our aim is to create a positive and safe experience for both the students and the animals.

WildlifeXposure’s interactive wildlife incursions are delivered by experienced, qualified wildlife handlers and educators. Our programs guarantee all students will be included and will have the opportunity to hold, touch, learn and experience wildlife first hand.

We pride ourselves on our ethical treatment of our animals and the work they do as ambassadors for their wild counterparts is extremely important. The wellbeing of our animals is paramount, and we maintain a high level of care and consideration of our animals across all of our presentations.

Our requirements

To ensure comprehensive all-inclusive quality programs we have a maximum limit of 30 students per hour session.

We are very flexible and will work with you to ensure you get the educational experience you desire.

Ideally we require:

  • A clear space for students to sit in a single semi-circle format
  • An area roughly 3m x1m for our animals and our poster boards

At previous incursions we have delivered our sessions in classrooms (cleared of tables), school halls / multi-purpose rooms, libraries etc.

Ideally when running multiple sessions, setting up in the one area on-site works best with the children coming to us for each session.
