Biodiversity & Sustainability

Biodiversity of plants and animals are the very bricks and mortar that make up the stable structure of a healthy, working ecosystem. Some of the smallest and simplest organisms are the very foundations that make up the most complex ecosystems, supporting some of the largest plants and animals on earth.

This program explores the diversity of Australia’s animals that make up our unique ecosystems. Students will learn about the five kingdoms of life and the roles they play in creating healthy functional ecosystems.

Students will examine a diverse cross selection of animals from the two major phylum’s of vertebrates and invertebrates. Presented with species found across varied Australian ecosystems such as deserts, forests, grasslands, wetlands, rivers and oceans while exploring topics such as:

  • Symbiotic relationships
  • Abiotic and biotic factors
  • Energy flows, food webs and food chains
  • Trophic levels
  • Primary, secondary, tertiary and quaternary consumers and the roles they play within ecosystems
  • Distributions and densities of species
  • Sustainability

This presentation gives students an understanding of the value of interlinked and interdependent relationships between a diversity of organisms and plants. This co-dependence is the most fundamental element sustaining life on earth, as we know it.

Each program offers a specific ecological focus.

We specialise in tailoring our wildlife experiences to suit any occasion.
